11 Things to Never Buy at Walmart Every American Knowns

As seasoned shoppers, we understand the importance of making wise decisions when it comes to purchasing products. Walmart, being one of the largest retail giants in the world, offers a wide variety of items, but there are certain products that might not be the best choices for your shopping list. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll reveal 11 things you should avoid buying at Walmart. By making informed choices, you can save money and ensure you’re getting the best value for your purchases.

1. Electronics and Gadgets

While Walmart offers a vast selection of electronics and gadgets, it’s essential to exercise caution when buying these items from the store. Often, the prices might seem tempting, but the quality and durability may not match up to that of specialized electronic retailers. Consider purchasing electronics from reputable brands or dedicated stores, ensuring better performance and longer lifespans.

2. Bedding and Linens

When it comes to bedding and linens, Walmart might not always offer the best quality products. Opting for luxury bedding sets or linens from specialty stores can provide more comfort, durability, and style. You spend a significant amount of time in bed, so investing in high-quality bedding can greatly impact your sleep and overall well-being.

3. Home Decor

While Walmart has a wide array of home decor items, the quality and uniqueness of these products might not match those found in boutique or artisan stores. Investing in premium home decor pieces can elevate the ambiance of your living space, making it feel more personalized and stylish.

4. Fresh Produce

Although Walmart provides a convenient one-stop-shop for groceries, their fresh produce might not always be the freshest. Local farmers’ markets or specialty grocers often offer superior quality produce that’s more likely to be locally sourced and sustainably grown. By buying from these vendors, you support local businesses and enjoy healthier fruits and vegetables.

5. Tools and Hardware

When it comes to tools and hardware, Walmart might not have the most durable and reliable options. For essential tools that you’ll use frequently, consider investing in high-quality products from specialized hardware stores. These tools are built to last, ensuring safety and efficiency in your DIY projects.

6. Toys and Games

While Walmart’s toy section is extensive, the quality of toys and games might not always be the best. Opting for toys from reputable brands and toy stores can ensure that the products meet safety standards and provide a more enjoyable play experience for children.

7. Pet Supplies

If you have furry friends at home, be cautious when purchasing pet supplies from Walmart. Specialty pet stores often offer a broader range of high-quality products, including pet food, toys, and accessories. Your pets deserve the best care, so investing in premium pet supplies can contribute to their overall health and happiness.

8. Furniture

While Walmart offers affordable furniture options, the quality and durability may not be up to par with furniture from dedicated furniture retailers. Investing in sturdy and well-crafted furniture can make a significant difference in the longevity and comfort of your home furnishings.

9. Personal Care Products

When it comes to personal care products such as skincare, haircare, and makeup, it’s essential to be mindful of ingredients and quality. Consider purchasing these products from reputable beauty stores or brands that prioritize using natural and safe ingredients.

10. Prescription Eyewear

While Walmart provides an optical center, prescription eyewear is something that requires careful consideration. Opting for eyeglasses and contact lenses from specialized optical stores or online retailers can ensure accurate prescriptions and a more extensive selection of frames.

11. Car Maintenance Products

When it comes to car maintenance products like motor oil and automotive accessories, it’s crucial to prioritize quality to keep your vehicle in top shape. Specialty automotive stores offer a wide range of reliable products designed for specific car models and needs.

By being selective about where you purchase certain items, you can make better choices that positively impact your lifestyle and overall satisfaction with your purchases. Remember to prioritize quality, durability, and the specific needs of each product category.

      • Thought the exact same thing. Obviously, whoever wrote that article has more money than sense, because Walmart does have great selections, and all those departments and most of them are the same brands that he’s talking about buying someplace else.

        • Yes I do agree the article sounds stupid
Maybe if he went into more detail about the electronics it would make sense
Years ago someone told me company’s do make cheaper lower grade products to sell at different stores
The example was then unclaimed salvage and freight he said it was just cheap furniture made for them to sell and I should purchase furniture else ware
Could be the same for example the TV’s
But if that’s what you can afford and it last for a while then it serves it purpose

But yes I agree the list was basically everything in the store except a birthday cake

      • Its bcuz Walmart ‘changed its name’ in2 a symbol (late 2010s about 2017-18) like pop/funk legendary musician Prince did in the 1990s

    • I agree with you how stupid is this because I buy all the things that they say not to buy. The only thing I don’t like to buy is their clothes.

      • Product related to durability and use. Don’t pay for what you don’t need and that includes quality. You don’t need an item that will last years

    • I completely agree with you Heather.
For example I go to Walmart because I have 8 cats and 3 grand doggies. I buy from Walmart their food by the brands available everywhere. Well the same brand and size Walmart has it much cheaper. I don’t understand why this article warns us not to but pet good. Personal care is the exact same thing! I am buying brands that Walmart has at a much better price. The brand is the same wherever I go! This article has to be written by someone who hates Walmart.

  3. I shop Walmart all the time. I’m a W+ member. Although I’ve had some bumps along the way with Walmart. But they are quick to resolve whatever the problem is. I don’t shop any place else. Very satisfied with Walmart.
    Thank you very much,
    A happy customer

  4. 2 week warranty on a new phone. This is completely unacceptable, as the phone didn’t last a month.
Walmart was not willing to efund my money No more electronics from them.

  5. Never had a problem with any of these items or the return! Had more problems with the so called reputable places to purchase these items!

  6. I have to agree with the other comments. IF one would follow this garbage article there is no reason to even go into the store! I have purchased many, if not all, of the items in this article, have they ALL been problem free? No, however, the bad items have been replaced without a problem, even electronics that were purchased. My opinion, the person commenting on electronics, phone, warranty of only 2 weeks was lying. Often wondered how many comments on an article are true or just bogus.

  8. Since we are dependent on all disposable junk made in “China” it is hard to find high quality, durable products in the USA. China has become the largest producer of garbage in the world because everything they make is DISPOSABLE.

  9. Caramba!! Lo que no entiendo es que si son de tan mala calidad los productos porque luce que walmart todos los días tiene mas clientes!
Me parece que esto es propaganda pagada.

  10. I’m in agreement with all of the above! I would never buy a phone from them, but everything else you commented on?? Outside of electronics, you said we needed to go to “specialty “ stores. Some of us can’t afford that!

  11. This is the exact example that before social media only the closest people know that person who wrote this article must be dumb. Now everyone knows that.

  12. What about clothing? I would expect you would say that because “everything comes from China!” What a stupid article!

  13. So in essence, this blogger wants you to pretty much shop at “specialty” stores/places for EVERYTHING and cut the middleman out. Need milk? Go straight to the cow? Gas. Don’t stop at a gas station when you need to fuel up, go straight to the refinery where the quality is the purest. This was about the most feeble minded crap I’ve read all year!

  14. So in other words, go to 10 other stores who specializes in each of the 10 products “not to buy” at Walmart wasting time, gas, and money. That’s the ENTIRE point of Mr. Walton’s idea, One-Stop shopping so we don’t have to go to 10 other places to buy stuff at way higher prices to get what we need. No thank you, I’ll stick with convenience.

  15. This is a silly article. You purchase according to your budget and sensitivity’s. And Walmart sell so many brands. I shop at Walmart all the time and don’t have a problem with any of their products because of the variety offered. I often compare Walmart prices to Amazon. Guess I shouldn’t shop there.

  16. I BOUGHT A STEREO SYSTEM FROM THEM ONCE AT ABOUT 450 DOLLARS. IT WAS A DISPLAY MODEL SO IT WAS CHEAPER IN TWO WEEKS I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THEIR REPAIR FACLILITY AS IT QUIT WORKING. THEY KEPT IT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND I TOOK IT HOME. IT WASNT FIXED. I TOOK IT AGAIN. IT NEVER WAS FIXED. I CANT REMEMBER WHAT i eventually did with it. It was years ago. I know they never refunded the money Id spent. And that it was in repair most of the time I had it.

  17. Moral: Dont buy floor models from Walmart. Theyre cheaper if they even still have them but theyve been played hard and mine was junk.
